“Care” is the latest single released by 20-year-old British musician, Beabadoobee. She has recently been gaining a larger audience due to the popularity of her song, “Coffee,” on Tik Tok. This upbeat, indie rock song premiered on BBC Radio 1 with Annie Mac on June 14, 2020.

In an interview with i-D, Bea states that this new song is about her somewhat sad childhood, but introduced in a more happy, fun way. Lyrics like, “It's been a while since I've thought about it / Maybe it's time to communicate / I was seven to think about it / The fact I still can't forget about it,” describe her remembering her childhood years, though she doesn’t describe any specific events in detail. She repeats the lines “but you don’t even care” and “are you the same?” throughout the chorus and outro, though the “you” character is never identified.

Her goal was to make a song that people will sing, dance, and “rock out” to. The song definitely resembles pop-rock music of the early 2000s, and, as Beabadoobee says (in that same i-D interview), it reminds her of an end-credit scene in a 2000s ‘chick flick'.’

Along with the release of this single, Beabadoobee dropped a music video on her YouTube channel. This video was directed and filmed on a Bolex camera by her boyfriend, Soren Harrison, giving it a vintage aesthetic. The imagery of flowers throughout the video hints at the title of her upcoming album, Fake It Flowers. The video is a montage of different clips, blending images of Bea playing her guitar, dancing, standing in the rain, sitting in a bathtub of flowers, rolling around in the grass, and more. The energy of the video is upbeat and chaotic, with touches of femininity and fragility presented with the repetitive floral imagery.
